Jason Carbone, Director of Instruction for the Jim McLean Golf School at
The Wigwam Golf Resort & Spa , was named one of the "Top 100 Golf Teachers
in America" in the March issue of GOLF Magazine.
Chosen by an independent group of GOLF Magazine staff editors,
instruction consultants and select members of the previous Top 100 list,
Carbone, 33, is one of 15 new names to be added to the 2007 list.
"Jason
Carbone is definitely one of the top young teachers in the world," said Jim
McLean, Carbone's mentor and founder of the Jim McLean Golf Schools. "Almost no
other instructor has taken the time or the effort to visit the great teachers,
and read all the materials."
To compile the list, GOLF Magazine asked the 41 sections of the PGA of
America to recommend the top instructors out of 28,000 eligible members. Each
of the 659 nominees was sent a questionnaire developed by the University of
Georgia Sports Instruction Research Laboratory to gain information about their
teaching philosophy, experience, continuing education and development, and
teaching awards.
"Jason has the whole package required to be a top teacher," added McLean, who
has been on GOLF Magazine's list since its inception in 1995. "He has a
wonderful gift."
Carbone has been an instructor with Jim McLean Golf Schools since 1998 and was
recognized by Golf Digest as the top teacher in Ohio from 2003-2006. He
is the 9th instructor from Jim McLean Golf Schools to be named to the Top 100
Teachers list.
